Q. My husband was given a boat last year, the motor runs great, but the boat is rotting and leaks like crazy. We were thinking fiberglassing the seams, but that is kinda pricey and we don't really have the extra needed to do that. A leaking wooden boat can be trouble. it may need to be rescrewed and recaulked. wooden boats need to stay in the water to swell up. keep it in the water all the time. it takes time for it to swell up. the rot must be removed and replaced. dryrot is tricky. there is a product called getrot sold on the market that works for small areas.
