Q. I have been a stay at home mom (2 and 3 year old) for 3 years now while also running a home daycare. I have been really meaning to finish school in the meantime but haven t gotten to it. I am only about a year away. I recently got an offer from a local college to play softball (I played softball for college 5 years ago and didn t finish all my years of eligibility) while I go to school. I met with the coach and they were able to get me the minimum online and night classes. I would have practice for 3 hours a day Monday-Thursday which I would hire helpers for with the home daycare and my kids. When I asked my family (husband included) about it they said I was being selfish since I am obviously a lot older than most college players ( I'm 25)… [cont.] Asked by mykidsrcuter - Sun Aug 24 01:54:20 2008 - - 18 Answers - 0 Comments A. Realistically - you need a break, doing something you enjoy, that helps keep you in good physical shape, and gives you some pleasure. that is not selfish. Forgive me, but your family is (are) missing a really big point here - which is that to take care of your kids - you have to take care of you first - physically and emotionally. A happy mom will be a lot better for your kids than an exhausted and depressed mom. Do this for yourself - because it will help your kids too.
