In typography, a font (also fount) is traditionally defined as a quantity of sorts composing a complete character set of a single size and style of a particular typeface. For example, the set of all characters for 9-point Bulmer italic is a font, and the 10-point size would be a separate font, as would the 9-point upright. After the introduction of computer fonts based on fully scalable outlines, a broader definition evolved. Font is no longer size-specific, but still refers to a single style. Bulmer regular, Bulmer italic, Bulmer bold and Bulmer bold italic are four fonts, but one typeface. However, the term font is also often used as a synonym for typeface. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "fonts" How to use different fonts in notepad? Q. I want to use different fonts in notepad. I already know about format, font, then change it there. I want to use multiple different fonts in the same notepad. How can I do this? Asked by kyle9316 - Thu Jun 4 15:11:14 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is not possible, as notepad stores just characters without any format information. Every single byte (or every 2bytes) of the file is a character. This is called plaintext. The format->font you know about is to select how you would like to see the characters inside the txt file. There is no format or font information inside a plaintext file. You need a text processing application such as Wordpad (integrated in Windows), Microsoft Word (commercial, part of Microsoft Office) , AbiWord (free), OpenOffice.org Write (free part of OpenOffice.org suite) and other less popular ones. Answered by Chevalier - Thu Jun 4 19:10:01 2009 What are clean, round fonts such as verdana and calibri called? Q. You know how there's like serif and sans serif fonts and all that? What do you call those really nice round or square fonts that don't have any ugly curls or tails, like verdana and calibri? Asked by Fire Skittles! - Thu Mar 18 18:53:45 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well both Verdana and Callibri don't have serifs, and so they are sans-serif fonts. And they have variations in their stem thickness and use a double-story a and are more calligraphic than other types of sans-serif fonts. Humanist fonts generally use the spacing found in Roman capitals and in humanist serif fonts rather than that in other sans-serif fonts. Note that fonts are often not classifiable, in part because font designers often delight in creating fonts that don t fit the classifications. Answered by Jallan - Sat Mar 20 17:34:37 2010 How do you get different fonts in Open Office?
Q. So I was writing this story, but I need a font that looks like messy handwriting, but Open Office (the writing document I use) has limited fonts, and I need a different one. Does anyone know how to get them for Open Office? Asked by Fool shouldn't be in love - Tue Dec 29 18:29:07 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You'll need to do a search on these sites.. Dafont.com has instructions how to put the font into the font folder. It will then be available for any program which uses fonts.
