How can I find a list of all print-directories (or phone books) that cover a specific community?
Q. I'm trying to make sure my non-profit organization is listed in all available directories. My agency represents 8 communities, and I want to make sure we're in as many of the community published directories as is possible. I NEVER use phonebooks and just search online. I've come across a few print ones here and there, but I want to make sure my list is comprehensive. Any suggestions? I've already googled and tried calling city/town halls. No luck...

How do I know which "directories" will help my google rank and which ones will hurt it?
Q. I know that the number impound to a site are very important when it comes to seo, but I find sites that are called directories and they let you add a link, but I can't tell if they're legit or just linkfarms. I've heard that linkfarms actually make your rank worse. I'm trying to rank higher than a specific competing site but I'm not sure how. Please help. Thanks.

A. The key criteria you need to look at with directories is whether they manually review the sites they show in the directory. Those directories strive to maintain quality in their listings -- and they are the ones that Google prefers, instead of auto submissions If you're building links, there are other ways you do it: 1 - Linkbait. Create content that can become viral and people will want to naturally use or share. It can be a widget, a top 100 list of something, a witty video. 2 - Approach blogs in your niche and ask to write for them, with the caveat that they'll keep your links live and dofollow 3 - Do social media.
