Yahoo Chat Room Booters?
Q. Let's face it - Yahoo is managed by greedy morons and dont care about what happens in chat rooms. Years ago we had real people in the room .. now we have 95% bots and the balance wannabe chat Gods with booters. Everyone left Yahoo chat because of these reasons. Yahoo has the money and the technology to eliminate the booters and ban bots from chat. This technology was available 20 years ago on BBSes maybe the so called engineers at Yahoo are to busy creating new bots?

A. I can assure you that yahoo does it's best to keep up with the booters. I know this because I once had a wide array of them. As quickly as yahoo changes the servers that the booters run on, the creator of that booter has a new version out to coincide with the new servers. It's a contant merry go round, and yahoo is usually not very far behind. A booter will only work for a week or two before the servers are once again changed, and the creator has to reprogam their little toy. For people who've been interested in checking out these toys, don't bother. The damage they do to your machine isn't worth the joy of kicking some mindless moron out of your room.

Are you smarter than a generation of computer nerds?
Q. Once upon a time, in the dawn of online computing, the local C=64 BBSes had a user by the name of "Deathstalker." We all called him "Dumbsucker." As near as we could figure, he kept a thesaurus by the keyboard and, after writing a message, went through and replaced every single word with a larger word which didn't mean quite the same thing, but which he was convinced made him look smarter. Among the many, many awkward phrases for which he was known, one came to be legendary. A whole generation of computer nerds tried -- fruitlessly -- to determine what the original meaning of the phrase must have been. Dumbsucker himself, genius that he was, claimed he no longer remembered what he was originally trying to say. Are you smarter than us? [cont.]
