A pet is an animal kept for companionship and enjoyment or a household animal, as opposed to wild animals or to livestock, laboratory animals, working animals or sport animals, which are kept for economic or productive reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits; keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress to those who like having animals around. There is now a medically-approved class of "therapy animals," mostly dogs, that are brought to visit confined humans. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction.

What jobs are out there that work directly with pets?
Q. I know that there is a vet, but I am worried I am not smart enough considering it is so competitive. Also I know there is an animal behaviorist, but what exactly do they do? How much do they get paid? Where do they work? How much school and what schooling? And do they work directly with pets? I love pets, I am always wanting pet after pet. Guinea pigs, cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, lizards, anything pets are so cool and I want a job that deals with them. I also want to be making decent money, where I can support a family.

Can you take pets out of the country?
Q. I heard you can't take pets out of the country. Im planning on getting a new pup and i'm moving to the bahamas afterwards. Will I be able to do this and what will i have to do?

A. Yes, you can take your beloved pet when you're moving out of the country. But be aware that most countries have a quarantine regulation. Your pet may need to spend as much as 6 months in a separated kennel facility. I've given you a website to check about your specific country in the source section.

Why do my chia pets only grow seedlings on certain parts?
Q. This is the fourth time I have planted chia seeds on my chia pets and for some reason this time they are only growing on certain parts. I rotate, water, and mist them daily. I have always grown them in the fall and winter; could it be something with the season?
Asked by Lauren G - Thu Jun 19 21:39:01 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Possibly it is the way that you spread them on. It is not an easy task to get them completely even. Some of the tiny seeds tend to clump together. Also they may sprout first in the most environmentally friendly part of the Chia. For example: Part of your Chia may have a slightly different temp than another area on the Chia. Also different parts may be getting slightly different light. Certain areas may hold water more than others. All of this plays a role in the growing process of your Chia. Eventually if one part takes off well, chances are the rest will spread the way it was meant to. Patience is a virtue I often don't have. I hope this info is of help.
