Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.

Etymologically, the word education is derived from educare (Latin) "bring up", which is related to educere "bring out", "bring forth what is within", "bring out potential" and ducere, "to lead".

Teachers in educational institutions direct the education of students and might draw on many subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science and history. This process is sometimes called schooling when referring to the education of teaching only a certain subject, usually as professors at institutions of higher learning. There is also education in fields for those who want specific vocational skills, such as those required to be a pilot. In addition there is an array of education possible at the informal level, such as in museums and libraries, with the Internet and in life experience. Many non-traditional education options are now available and continue to evolve.

A right to education has been created and recognized by some jurisdictions: since 1952, Article 2 of the first Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights obliges all signatory parties to guarantee the right to education. At world level, the United Nations' International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 guarantees this right under its Article 13.

Q. I'm interested in becoming a historical archaeologist. I'm having problems finding out all the education required. So what education is required and how many years? What jobs could I have while working on my education?

A. Start with your BA. At that point you can do a internship. Then go for either your masters or PhD. You will need those higher degrees to advance in the field.

How much education is required to be qualified for Immigration to Canada?
Q. This is in relation to another question I asked. Under the categories, Provincial Nominee, Skilled Worker, and the new Canadian Experience Class, what is the least amount of education required for Immigration to Canada? Some people keep saying you need to have at least a 4 year degree or a baccalaureate etc to be qualified, yet the Canada Immigration website says you can qualify with less (2 year diploma, etc). So I'm just curious what should I believe and does anyone else have an idea of what the least amount of education is required?

A. You can actually qualify with no diploma under provincial nominee. Alberta and BC have semi-skilled options under their PNP's so if you have experience as a bell hop, hotel room cleaner, kitchen helper, fast food worker and some others, you are in. You would only need a job offer from said province doing one of the jobs listed and apply for temporary work permit. Once you are working, you can apply to the PNP with the help of your employer and get permanent residency. For skilled worker, you apply under a points system. You can get points for education, work experience, language skills, age and other things. You are ok to have fewer points in the education category if you have a lot of points in the other ones. For Canadian… [cont.]

What is the best music education program in Illinois?
Q. Right now, I am planning on transferring to NIU and majoring in Music Education. I am still searching for other options. I have been searching for the best music education programs in Illinois and can't find any definitive answers. I only want public schools so that narrows things down a little bit. If anyone has any information regarding any other music education programs, or the one I plan on entering, would be greatly appreciated.
